Martlets Fall to Eaglebrook

Another gritty effort from the JV Baseball team against a good hitting Eaglebrook team that also showed a couple of strong pitchers who challenged the Martlets, who struck out 13 times. Highlights for Westminster included a good starting pitching performance from Lucas Steniger, and relief appearances from Kyle Zhou and Adam Heffer. Zhou struck out two Eagles in his 1.2 innings, and Heffer put up a zero and struck out 1. All three pitchers threw a lot of strikes, walking only two Eaglebrook hitters on the day. The Martlets only managed three hits (Kareer Skovrov-Rasheed, Rossi, and Dylan Ness) on the day, but walked ten times, ran the bases well, and took advantage of four Eaglebrook errors to scratch out five runs. Will Derbyshire reached base in the seventh inning and scored, while Paul Coccaro, Steniger, Andrew Haggett, and Ness also crossed the plate.
GRIT & Grace Award goes to Kyle Zhou, who took the mound for the first time this year against a really good hitting lineup against a bunch of former teammates from his previous school and threw 1.1 innings, struck out two batters, and threw 79% strikes.
