Grit and Growth: Martlets Fall to Deerfield in Rematch

The Westminster JV Girls hockey team displayed relentless hustle on the road this week, though they ultimately dropped a 7–2 decision in their second meeting of the season against a formidable Deerfield squad.
Despite the final score, the Marlets skated hard through all three periods, showing significant grit against a high-powered offense. The scoring effort was led by Aila Van Dolah (’28) and senior captain Chase Carter (’26), both of whom found the back of the net to keep the Marlets in the fight. Between the pipes, Lily Pokorny (’29) delivered a stellar performance, making several acrobatic saves to keep the contest competitive under heavy pressure.
While Deerfield’s depth proved too strong once again, Westminster’s spirits remain high as they shift their focus toward the weekend. This Saturday, the Martlets are thrilled to finally play in Jackson Rink for a home contest versus Rumsey Hall.
