Martlets Defeat Portsmouth Abbey

In the first few minutes the game was up and down.  Both teams were scoring and playing aggressive defense.  Westy went on a quick run to go up by 7 points but PA fought back.  Westy then turned it up a notch on defense and closed out the second half with a 9 point lead.  During the first half, Julien Wiggins '27 set the tone early by scoring and also getting his teammates involved.  Ethan Villacis '27 did a nice job of setting up his teammates for easy baskets.  He had a handful of assists.  In the second half, Portsmouth Abbey cut the lead to three.  Ethan Griffin  '26 dominated the boards and he finished several thunderous dunks.  Westy applied a lot of pressure on the defensive end and it opened up the game for the Martlets.  Ethan Hernandez '27 played well on both ends during his time on the court.  Huge congrats to Hudson Black '27 on recording his first varsity bucket and block.  The Martlets will play New York Military Academy tomorrow at noon, with a chance to make it to championship Sunday.
