Martlets Fall to CA

For a Friday night match up, the Martlets welcomed Cheshire Academy and quickly found themselves in a competitive game. Westminster leaned on their defense to set the tone and limit Cheshire’s offensive threats. Delia Lockwood ‘26, Parker Perillo ‘26, and Gianna Monaco ‘27 were relentless in their efforts and helped generate steals and contest their opponents’ shot opportunities. As the intensity built up, the Martlets tried to maintain their composure while handling the Cheshire pressure, but a few unforced errors allowed the Cats to jump out to a double-digit lead. In the second half, Westminster had to maneuver some foul trouble, but their efforts never faltered. Although they were unable to close the gap, the Martlets continued to find some good scoring looks and played great team basketball until the final buzzer. Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 led all scorers with 13 points while Lockwood ‘26 and Monaco ‘26 each added 7. Perillo ‘26 earned the game chain for her constant efforts on the defensive end and for sustaining a streak of games with 3 point makes. The Martlets will look forward to hosting the Horizons students for some basketball fun tomorrow and then make a short trip to Loomis on Monday for their next contest.
