Martlets Fall to Salisbury

The Martlets hosted Salisbury in a spirited home match. Both teams opened with equal intensity, but Salisbury struck first with the opening goal. Defensively, Jordan Pham ‘27 anchored the back line alongside Maruli Sianturi ‘28, Brooks Berthiaume ‘27, and Henry Baird ‘26, who all worked well together. Up front, Teddy Russell ‘26 showed smart, intentional play and netted the Martlets’ first goal to even the score. Salisbury quickly responded with a second goal, but the Martlets’ determination showed as Jeff Niu ‘26 fueled the attack with relentless effort. Just before halftime, Luke Champoux ‘28 delivered an excellent header to tie the game 2-2.
The second half remained fiercely competitive. Despite several strong recoveries by Calvin Bixby ‘28, Salisbury managed to score twice more. With Bixby’s support, Jeff Niu ‘26 capitalized and added another goal for the Martlets. Though the team created numerous scoring opportunities, they struggled to convert as many as they deserved. Great game, just an unfortunate outcome!
This game’s Grit and Grace Award goes to Jeff Niu ‘26 for his outstanding effort, resilience, and consistent hard work throughout the match.
