Martlets and Deerfield Play to a Tie
The Martlets traveled to Deerfield Academy on a beautiful but windy afternoon, with both teams eager to grab a much-needed win. Westminster started a bit flat, conceding just two minutes in when a failed clearance fell kindly to a Deerfield attacker who made no mistake.
After some even play, Garrett R. ’27 delivered a perfect free kick that Luka M. ’27 skillfully flicked past the Deerfield keeper — Luka’s fourth goal of the season, already doubling his total from last year.
While Deerfield carried more of the play in search of a winner, our resilience and toughness showed throughout the second half as we refused to concede again.
In the end, it was what we like to call a “good tie” — a gritty, disciplined performance with plenty to build on as we look to keep our positive results streak alive heading into the weekend.
