Martlets Fall to DA

The Quad Squad competed against a much bigger and faster team from Deerfield, but the boys resisted the entire first half and had many occasions to hit the net. Kareum Rasheed ‘29 was phenomenal as a goalie and saved many direct hits to the net. He fought on every single ball thus saving us from many goals from the opposing team. Grayson Augsberger ‘29, Ryden Maeda ‘29, Grayson Timken ‘29 and Blake Balavender ‘29 kept the defense strong. Grayson Augsberger ‘29 was able to use his athleticism and size to challenge the big and fast players from the Deerfield Team. CJ Berry ‘29 and Connor Quinn ‘29 were able to seriously challenge the players who were getting very physical. The offense was pretty good with Archie Downing ‘29, Dylan Park ‘29 and Kyle Zhou ‘29 who controlled the ball really well with great passes and serves. There were several crosses from CJ but we were not able to find the net. In the second substitution, Colin Cirelli ‘29, Matty Polastry ‘29, Nico Filipetti ‘29 and Aidan Glassey ‘29 worked hard in the defense keeping the ball out of the box. Aidan Glassey went beyond the extra mile to keep the ball out of danger. Nico tried his best against big and strong attackers who were very physical in the box. Lan Dao ‘29, Andrew Doering ‘29 and Gabe Rodrigues ‘29 helped the attack and the defense from their midfield positions. Gabe’s speed, Drew’s skills and Lan Dao’s capacity to handle the ball played a big role in keeping the ball in our team. Henry Norton ‘29, Chris Chang ‘29 and Mark Broderick ‘29 could handle the ball in a way of creating many opportunities to score. They were able to pierce the Deerfield defense with several direct shots but not finding the back of the net. Even though we lost 0-2 I couldn’t be more proud of the boys during this game: all the values we cherish have been demonstrated by the boys with a very positive attitude and great behavior towards the opposing team. Even those who were not able to play came to support and help: Eli Wilderman ‘29, Teddy Pemberton ‘29, Beckett Long ‘29, Jacob Flores ‘29, Max Butensky ‘29, and Declan Davies ‘29.
