Martlets Put up 9 in Win

The Martlets faced Pomfret on Wilbraham Field in a game that opened with an intense few minutes of play. Early in the second quarter, Luke Champoux ‘28 scored a fantastic opening goal that sparked momentum for the team. With the Martlets pushing forward and maintaining possession, Teddy Russell ‘26 capitalized by scoring a hat-trick. Allen Alava ‘28 added to the team’s energy with his determined pressure, smart footwork, and supportive play. In goal, Will Gallagher ‘27 made strong saves to keep Pomfret off the scoreboard. Just before halftime, Justin Fu ‘27 netted the fifth goal, sending the Martlets into the break with a commanding lead.
The second half began with the same intensity, and Rush Miller ‘28 quickly found the back of the net. However, complacency crept in as the midfield opened up with too many players pressing forward. This shift allowed Pomfret to rally and score four goals within approximately 20 minutes, putting heavy pressure on the Martlets. Still, the team responded with resilience - Will Jones ‘28 stood out with skillful play, while Justin Fu ‘27 added another goal and Teddy Russell ‘26 scored twice more. In the closing seconds, Pomfret managed to score one last goal. The boys are eager to carry even greater energy and focus into their next game!
The Grit and Grace Award goes to Teddy Russell ‘26 for his consistency, versatility, and leadership; scoring multiple goals and stepping into different positions when the team needed him most.
