Martlets Edge out Cheshire Academy

Melody El-Amin '27 homered and had three RBIs to lead the Martlets to an exciting 4-3 home win against Cheshire. Lily Shuster '27 had two doubles and Anna Hassett '27 added three important hits for Westminster. Mya Polastry '27 singled and drove in a critical run during the fourth inning. El-Amin's RBI single in the bottom of the fifth frame scored Shuster in what proved to be the game winner. Hassett turned in a gritty pitching performance against a strong Cheshire lineup. The Westy infield played stellar defense throughout the game. Caitlyn Eaton '28, Paige Herlihy '25, Kaitlyn Buda '27, and El-Amin each made important plays in the field. Mia Magriz '25 caught an exceptional game and threw out a runner at third base in a key momentum changing play to extinguish a Cheshire rally in the fourth inning. Meiyin Ren '25, Shuster and Polastry each made important catches in the outfield during the afternoon. The next contest for the Martlets will be at home against Suffield on Wednesday, 4/9.
