Martlets Fall in West Hartford

The Martlets headed to WeHa on a Friday afternoon after moving their game up a day to avoid weekend precipitation. It was a 60 degree day with clear skies as the game started at K-O. Shaw Turton '25 got things going for the black and gold with a single and stolen base in the first. After a walk to Alex Mihailovich '25, newcomer Matt Shea '26 drove in Turton to give the birds an early 1-0 advantage. The Wyverns struck back in the bottom of the first, however, scoring 3 runs on some hard hit balls coupled with a misplay in CF. The game would remain 3-1 into the 5th, when K-O would tack on a run before adding 3 more in the bottom of the 6th. Matt Shea threw well for the Martlets but the bats were stymied in defeat. The offense managed only three hits on the afternoon. The birds will look to bounce back Monday against Loomis.
