Martlets Fall to Choate

After a fun doubles scrimmage with Hall High School on Tuesday, the Martlets took to the courts Wednesday for the first official time of the season. Choate was a stronger and deeper team and took every match played. Many of the Martlets had not played a tennis match for Westminster before, so it was great for some of them to get the experience of what a tennis match is like. Starting with 5 doubles matches, Choate won all 5 of the doubles matches pretty routinely. All of the matches had some good points and some close games. Choate also won all of the singles matches. The closest matches of the day came by Daniel Frid ‘27, Crosby Cutler ‘27, Jaime Escartin ‘27 and Jeffrey N  Returner Daniel Frid ‘27 had some nice points in his match at #1 singles, falling to a tough opponent in a competitive 6-3;6-1 scoreline. Crosby Cutler, also a returner from last year, had some close games in his match but fell by a scoreline of 6-1;6-1. Jeffrey Niu ‘26 had some competitive games and a great second set in his loss at #5 singles. Jaime Escartin ‘27 had some great points in his 6-3;6-2 loss at #4 singles. Every Martlet fought hard and will be looking forward to their second time out next Wednesday when we travel to Kent.
