Martlets Fall in Opener

Your Martlets hosted the Rivers School on Hovey Field on Saturday for their season opener. Energy was high for the season opener. Your Martlets broke out to a 1-0 lead before Rivers scored 2 to take the lead 2-1. Your Martlets would come back and tie the game 2-2 entering into halftime. Q3 proved to be a challenge for the Martlets as Rivers took advantage of costly turnovers and penalties and jumped out to a 5-3 lead. As we entered Q4, we battled hard to find our footing and we eventually would score 1 to cut the deficit to 5-3. Your Martlets had several EMO opportunities late but failed to capitalize. A low scoring game where both teams played hard but unfortunately your Martlets could not close the gap.
