Martlets Open Season with a Road Win

On a chilly March afternoon, the Martlets boarded the busses and headed west to Lakeville to open the season. Matt Shea '26 would run into some trouble in the 1st but settled in nicely, going 5IP with 10Ks. Despite the strong performance, the birds trailed all game and ultimately entered the final frame down 2-1. With 2 outs and 2 strikes, Max Williams '25 stole third and scampered home on a wild pitch to tie the game.

After some excellent defensive work and strong pitching from Nathan Blackak '26, the Martlets took control. Easton Masse '25 started the 8th with a frozen rope single. Connor Lytle '25 attempted to sac bunt Masse over but reached on an error. Alex Mihailovich's bunt turned into a hit, loading the bases and setting the stage. Monty Gantz '26 bounced into a fielder's choice turned error and Matt Shea hit a rocket of a double to clear the bases. The Martlets gave 1 run back in the bottom of the 8th but the final score was 8-3. The boys showed resilience today and will enjoy a much needed rest day before preparing for Taft on Weds 4/3.
