Martlets Defeat Millbrook

The Martlets earned a 2-1 victory over Millbrook on Wednesday afternoon at Jackson Rink, controlling the pace of play from start to finish and using a strong second period to secure the win. Although Millbrook opened the scoring in the first period, the Martlets never wavered. Westminster dictated possession, generated consistent offensive pressure, and limited Millbrook’s opportunities. That control paid off in the second period when the Martlets struck twice. Stella Spitz ‘27 tied the game early in the frame, winning a faceoff and quickly converting to even the score. Westminster continued to press and was rewarded on the power play when Kuylie Kim ‘29 scored off a shot from the point that found its way through traffic. Izzy Hurkala ‘26 picking up the assist. Special teams were a major factor throughout the afternoon, with multiple power-play and penalty-kill situations on both sides. Westminster remained disciplined and effective in those moments, maintaining control and preventing Millbrook from gaining traction.
Liesel Kocourek earned the win in net with a steady performance, making timely saves when needed while benefiting from strong play in front of her. The Martlets closed out the game with smart puck management and composure in the third period to preserve the one-goal lead.
Overall, it was a complete team effort from Westminster. The Martlets put together three solid periods of hockey today to earn the win!

Our Grit & Grace player of the game is Gigi Filippetti ‘26! Gigi’s effort, consistent play, and overall energy today helped the Martlets secure the win.
