Martlets Pound Pelicans on Home Ice

The Westminster Martlets earned a 9–2 win over Loomis on Wednesday night at Jackson Rink in a game that featured strong team play and balanced scoring.
Gus McGarvey ’26 led the Martlets with a hat trick, while Matty Hanrahan ’26 added two goals. Owen Burke ’26, Michael Rossi ’26, Jake Pleau ’26, and Tyler Beaudoin ’28 also scored for Westminster.
The Martlets held a 2–1 lead after the first period, with McGarvey opening the scoring and Burke adding the second. Westminster extended the lead in the second period with four goals from Hanrahan, McGarvey, Pleau, and Beaudoin to take a 6–1 advantage into the second intermission. Pleau’s goal, which made it 5–1, came while shorthanded.
Westminster added three more in the third period, with Rossi, Hanrahan (his second of the night), and McGarvey completing his hat trick.
The Martlets received contributions throughout the lineup and a strong performance in goal from Ryan Galaski ’26. Westminster finished the night with a 45–36 edge in shots, and special teams accounted for four power-play goals and one shorthanded tally.
Both teams competed hard throughout, and Westminster was able to build on a solid all-around effort.
