Westminster JV Girls Hockey Manifests Grit in Deerfield Contest
The Westminster School JV Girls Ice Hockey team faced a tough challenge on the road, ultimately falling to Deerfield Academy with a final score of 8-4. Despite the result, the team displayed commendable effort and determination throughout the contest.
First-year goaltender Lily Pokorny ('29) delivered another solid performance between the pipes, making 13 saves and keeping the Martlets within striking distance for much of the game. Her composure continues to be a cornerstone for the team's defense.
The Martlets' offensive spark came from a dynamic day student duo. Abby Cirelli ('28) and Joanna Halle ('29) each netted two goals, accounting for all of Westminster's scoring. Assists were provided by Lake Carter ('29), Aila Van Dolah ('28), and Eliza Lane ('28). The pair of Halle and Cirelli provided a thrilling conclusion to the game, scoring within a minute of one another in a late-game flurry during the third period. Their rapid-fire goals highlighted the team's never-give-up attitude and hinted at the offensive potential building within the squad.
The team will look to capitalize on this late-game momentum in their next outing against NMH on Saturday as they continue to gain valuable experience and refine their TEAMWORK!
