Martlets Defeat Winged Beavers

The Martlets travelled to AOF and wasted no time getting on the board, as Teddy Russell scored just two minutes into the match. The early goal sparked a response from AOF, who increased their pressure in search of the equalizer. Strong defending and smart play from Jeff Niu helped absorb the momentum shift, but AOF eventually scored in the first quarter to tie. The Martlets continued to create several dangerous chances throughout the first half, showing strong control and attacking intent. Their persistence paid off when Luke Champoux ‘28 capitalized on a loose ball mishandled by the goalkeeper, slotting home the team’s second goal.
AOF returned in the second half with even more intensity, making possession more difficult for the Martlets. Despite the pressure, Brooks Berthiaume ‘27 stood out with excellent ball control, speed, and tactical awareness in transition. Calvin Bixby ‘28 also contributed with purposeful attacking play, consistently challenging defenders and helping sustain forward momentum for the team. Above all, Will Gallagher ’27 made some incredible saves.
The Grit and Grace Award goes to Brooks Berthiaume ‘27 for his tremendous work around the field, relentlessly pursuing every ball, even those seemingly out of reach, and consistently winning back possession while being an outstanding teammate.
