Martlets Defeat K-O

The Martlets hit the road this Saturday in a nearby away matchup against Kingswood-Oxford. The 2-1 victory for Westminster was marked by resilience, strong team play, and clutch performances. The game started off on a challenging note for the Martlets, as KO applied early pressure and managed to take a 1-0 lead into halftime despite Westminster controlling much of the possession in the first half. Undeterred, the Martlets came out strong in the third quarter, staying composed and continuing to push the pace. Their persistence paid off when they found the back of the net to tie the game, swinging momentum in their favor. Chloe Corneau ‘29 got the scoring started for the Martlets when she buried home a rebound to tie up the game. The energy carried into the fourth quarter, where Westminster capitalized again, scoring what would ultimately be the game-winner. Gigi Filippetti ‘26 was in great position, sitting on the post, and was able to tap one in to put the Martlets in the lead. Defensively, the Martlets were outstanding, with Hannah Maltby ‘26 coming up with several huge saves to preserve the lead, and Pippa Jiranek ‘26 stepping up with key blocks on corners to keep KO from leveling the score. Overall, it was an impressive team effort and a strong showing of character and poise under pressure, as Westminster battled back to secure an important win.

Our Grit and Grace player of the game goes to Junior Stella Spitz! Stella’s composure, compete, and consistent play was a key factor to help the Martlets secure the win.
