We won!

In a dominating performance, the Martlets triumphed over KO with a convincing 8-1 victory. The game began with the Martlets showing their skill and control on the field, but they were momentarily taken aback when KO’s striker managed to net a spectacular goal, casting a hint of doubt in the minds of the Martlets. However, with strategic substitutions and a renewed focus, the Martlets regained their momentum. It was not long before they found their rhythm, with Ava Aponte ’28 scoring their first goal 15 minutes into the first half, assisted by Eliza Reilly ’27. Just 14 minutes later, Reilly added to the scoreline with a goal of her own, this time assisted by Charlotte Lundin ’29, solidifying the Martlets’ dominance as they showcased impressive ball circulation and field occupation.

As the second half began, the Martlets came out with a fierce determination to leave behind their previous week’s performance against Williston. Just three minutes into the half, Ava Aponte struck again, scoring her second goal, this time with another assist from Eliza R. The symbiosis between Ava and Eliza R was the climax of the game, allowing them to control the game further. Two minutes later, Reilly found the back of the net for her second goal, which felt the momentum swell within the team. The Martlets continued to press, and just sixteen minutes into the second half, Annie Fertitta ’29 scored her first-ever goal, drawing an enthusiastic celebration from her teammates.

The excitement did not stop there, as Gloria Oh ’28 displayed her individual prowess to notch another goal, pushing the score to 7-1. Lucy Morton ’26, a defender, capped off the scoring with a goal that sent the varsity team’s adjacent game into a frenzy of celebration. Maya Goddard, from the varsity team, expressed the impact of Lucy’s goal, displaying the emotional connection it fostered between the Varsity and JV teams. With the final whistle signaling a definitive end, the Martlets not only celebrated their victory but also acknowledged

Grit and Grace is awarded to the whole team, particularly to Annie and Lucy, whose contributions and enthusiasm made a lasting difference on the field.
