Martlets Defeat MP

The Martlets rallied to win an exciting 12-7 home game against Marianapolis on Wednesday. Trailing 4-1 in the fourth inning, the Westminster bats came alive. Mia Magriz '25 and Anna Hassett '28 each had three hits and multiple RBIs. Melody El-Amin singled, doubled, and drove in two runs for Westy. Marianapolis had a 6-5  lead in the fifth inning, when Caitlyn Eaton '28 homered to tie the game. Eaton's blast energized the team. The Martlets had quality at bats and scored six times in the next frame. Meiyin Ren '25 singled to drive in a run, and Kaitlyn Buda '27, Mya Polastry '27, El-Amin, and Eaton had RBIs. Gabby de la Fe showed great plate discipline by working out three walks in four at bats. Lily Shuster '27 had a base hit and scored two runs during the afternoon. In the field, El-Amin continues to be superb at shortstop, and Magriz caught another excellent game. They combined to throw out a runner in the first inning, and afterward Marianapolis didn't attempt another steal. Polastry continues to make important catches in right field, and Ren was involved in two crucial putouts at third base. Hassett pitched well during the first four innings, and Eaton finished by striking out four batters and shutting down Marianapolis over the last three frames. The Martlets will next travel to NMH on Saturday.
