Girls Crush Times on Senior Day

In their first meet since Jan. 27, the Westminster Girls put on a show on Senior Day, shattering best times and toppling their opponents, 98-68. The 200 Medley Relay Team of Anne Brewer '21, Angelesia Ma '20, Katherine Ashe '21 and co-captain Dallis Alvarez '18 took second place in a close race. Co-captain Liza Lennox '18 then won the 200 Freestyle with her best time ever, followed by Sydney Schuster '21 in third with her personal best. Alex Lin '19 won the 200 IM with Ashe in third Ma in fourth — all three swims were best times. Alex Wolf ’19 won the 50 Free, with Alvarez in third and Clea Guerrand-Hermes ’19 in fourth, and the diving trio of Jane Ogden '19, Cecilia Raymond '20 and Ally Marenco '18 placed 1-2-3, respectively, in the diving contest. After a brief ceremony recognizing the contributions of the Sixth Formers (Alvarez, Lennox, Marenco and Mary Su '18), the meet was back underway with the 100 Fly. Ashe finished second, with Michelle Wu '21 in fourth and Su in fifth in her first attempt at that race. Lin, Wolf and Lennox went 1-2-3 in the 100 Free, and Brewer, Schuster and Wu finished second, third and fourth, respectively, in the 500 Freestyle with all best times. Ma, Lennox, Wolf and Lin teamed up for a win in the 200 Freestyle Relay, and Brewer and Alvarez both swam best times in the 100 Backstroke, finishing second and third. Ma won the 100 Breaststroke, with Jennifer Jerand '19 in second and Siena Holowesko '21 in third; all three swims were personal records. In the final race, the 400 Freestyle Relay, Ashe, Lennox, Wolf and Lin teamed up for a convincing win with some quick splits. It was the first time the girls had a chance to test their training from the long weekend spent training in Florida, and they were eager to race and blast their old times out of the water. It was a great finish to the home meet schedule; the girls have one more dual meet on Saturday at Miss Porter's and then Founders League Championships and New Englands on each of the following Saturdays.
