Alumni Spotlight: Ashley Jeffress '09
What are you currently doing?
I am currently living in Boston working for Wayfair LLC. I work as a Buyer for one of Wayfair’s lifestyle brands, Joss & Main. Joss & Main is an ecommerce site, curated for the design enthusiast. I am on the Furniture team and oversee strategy for our bedroom and office categories as well as curate a number of promotions that launch daily.
Did your experiences at Westminster prepare you for your college/professional life?
One of the most important things I learned at Westminster was time-management skills. I felt incredibly prepared entering college, knowing I had the tools to manage my course load on top of extracurricular activities. In my profession, I am able to approach my work with a strategic mindset, successfully prioritizing my work on a day to day basis. The experiences I had at Westy have been 100% transferable into the “real world.” My work/life balance, my sense of community throughout college and into my career, my involvement in those communities, and embodying character in all of these areas has helped me grow tremendously since my time on the Hill.
As a Class Agent, donor and event attendee, you've remained very active in the Westminster community. What motivates you to remain so involved?
Westminster is still one of the most important parts of my life. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to attend such an incredible school, make lifelong friendships and strengthen my passion for learning. I stay involved because I believe in all that Westminster has to offer its students, beyond just their time on the Hill. I am grateful for Westminster more each year, and giving back to the community gives me an opportunity to show my appreciation.

What was it like to come back to campus for Black & Gold Day after being away for a few years?
It was great to be back on campus for Black & Gold Day! The campus looked bigger and better than ever, and although it was a little different for me, the small, close-knit community feeling was still there. I walked around campus, watched the First Girls’ Field Hockey and Soccer games, saw old teachers and their families and met a few new faculty members and students. In some regards it felt like I had never left and it’s amazing that campus still felt like home after six years.
What does Westminster mean to you?
Westminster means family; it means hard work and dedication in the classroom and on the field or the stage. Westminster means lifelong memories and friendships. It means never forgetting where you came from and where you are able to go. The sky’s the limit!

What advice would you give to Sixth Formers who are moving on from Westminster next year?
Enjoy the time you have on the Hill, it will be gone before you know it! Step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself! Cherish your friendships and stay connected to this amazing community; it only gets better with time.
