Westminster's Girls' Cross-Country team have great individual races at home in Founders League Championship

The Founders League field contains some of the fastest girls’ teams in New England, so the Martlets knew it would be challenging to even place a runner in the top 15. Oumou Kanoute ‘17 was just outside that field, running 18th overall with her best time (22:15) ever on the Westminster course (despite the damp, cold conditions). Kanoute set a trend for the team; eight of the eleven girls who raced ran their best times ever on the home course. Sarah Minella '17, Grace Brentano ‘16, and Nicole Fox ’17 had especially big drops in time (over a minute), and they joined Abigayle Hovey ‘18, Lauren Boures ’15 and Katie O'Conner '15 as the scoring members of the team. This group, on average, is over 90 seconds faster on the course than they were a month ago, an improvement that speaks to the hard work they have put in during practices. The girls have a final week of training and then their final race next Sunday at Williston Northampton.
