Martlets Claw Their Way Back, Only To Lose In OT

The Third Boys' Lacrosse team dropped a heart-breaker in overtime versus visiting Rectory.  Nevertheless, the boys left the field with their heads held high, proud of the outstanding effort they gave in what was just an all-around great lacrosse game.  Westminster took an early 1-0 lead when Greg Jarvis '13 dodged through three defenders and launched a shot into the top corner of the net.  Rectory then came storming back scoring the next three goals, giving them a 3-1 lead at half time.  The Martlets made it 3-2 in the third quarter when attackman Charlie Niles '14 took a feed from Jarvis, went around a great pick set by Patrick Spano '12 and rifled a bounce shot past the Rectory goalie.  However, Rectory was able to bring their lead back to two, scoring with only three seconds left in the third quarter.  The fourth quarter was all Martlets as they evened the score on goals by Niles and Tommy Griffith '14, and sent the game into overtime.  Unfortunately, the Martlets could not get one more, and Rectory got the overtime winner a minute into the extra frame.  Morgan Heck '14 and Skyler Wasser '12 rode well at attack, and Sean Han '14 played very well in the midfield.
