Defense Wins the Day

A great game between two very solid hockey teams. This time it ended in a 0-0 tie as the goaltenders won the the game. Kayla Lessard ‘08 had some amzing saves as did the Loomis goalie. In the first period, Loomis carried the play but great goaltending and solid defensive play by Bethany Dymarczyk and Tori Pizzuto '10 allowed us to stay even. In the second, outstanding offensive pressure by Emily Walsh ‘09 and Sare Ugalde ‘10 almost put us in front. In the third, Loomis again held the terrritorial advantage, but goaltending and contributions from newcomer Amanda Boulier '11 and Marianne Specker ‘08 kept the score knotted at zero. In the overtime, Captains Nicole Palazzo ‘08 and Sara Reid ‘08 provided a number of good scoring chances. Unfortunately, the Black and Gold could not get one by the Loomis net minder and the game ended a tie. The rematch later in the season should be another game to watch for.
