Well-Played Game by First Girls' Soccer

On a crisp fall day, the Martlets hosted Williston and finished the day with a strong team win 2-0.  In the first half, Westminster played a great possession game. The midfield and forwards worked combinations up the field and along the 18 to create multiple chances.  Westminster controlled the field and showed intensity and energy. Nine minutes into the game Steph Piperno '11 scored the first goal off of an assist from Torrey Leroy '09.  Piperno scored a second time ten minutes later on a beautiful unassisted shot. In the second half, Westminster came out a little flat, but picked up the play ten minutes into the half.  The Westminster defense shut down Williston's forwards and midfield, but had some difficulty working the ball up to their own forwards to advance the offense.  Bethany Dymarczyk '08 played an excellent game in the goal making multiple stellar saves. All in all the game was a phenomenal display of team effort.  The Martlets will head to Suffield on Wednesday for their next challenge.
