Westminster 7th in New England Tournament

The First Girls had a good showing at Founders League last weekend and the big concern was avoiding further injury and illness in this last week leading up to the New England championships. After appearing to make it to Suffield at 100%, Mandy Hyne ‘07 began noticing a tightness in her Achilles tendon which developed into a painful hindrance during the race. Mandy, as we expected, persevered and finished 22nd overall. Her teammates, Helena Morris ’08 (9th overall with a PR time of 21:05) and Liza Winship ’07 (17th overall with a solid 21:53 run) ran excellent races, as did Tiffany Moopenn ’06 and Anne Hoyt ’08. Sarah Bingham ’08 dropped 5 seconds off her previous 5K PR while Damali Slowe ’06 flirted with the 27 minute barrier, dropping 35 seconds off her previous PR.
