"Westminster School seeks curious and engaged students who want to grow and learn in a challenging and supportive environment. Students who are motivated to become their best selves both in and out of the classroom, taking advantage of the myriad of opportunities Westminster has to offer."
“At Westminster, we aspire to an extraordinarily ambitious commitment to secondary education, a commitment to nurture the participation of our diverse school community across our entire program — from academics, to studios and labs, gyms, fields and rink, and service to our Hartford community partners. Westminster students are inspired by opportunities to make a difference in all their endeavors.”
"Through gritty trial and error, Westminster students grow into independent learners who are curious, critical thinkers. With the support of faculty, students gain the skills to understand the world around them and enrich their communities at school and beyond."
"The visual and performing arts program at Westminster weaves the community together and nurtures the spirit of the Westminster campus. The arts at Westminster inspire students of all levels of experience from the very beginner to the advanced artist to practice the freedom of creative self-expression. Professional teachers guide students to work through the creative process from inception to the presentation, building a lifelong respect and appreciation for the arts."
Kerry Kendall Head of Visual and Performing Arts Department
"Athletic success at Westminster is measured not only by wins and losses, but through the bonds created between teammates and coaches, individual and team improvement, and personal growth. When students learn how to be competitors and how to cooperate with one another, they are better prepared to be citizens of the global world."
“Driven by a desire to serve young people and conscious of the opportunities for private schools to support a public purpose, Westminster School’s mission statement concludes with the call ‘to commit to a life of service beyond self.’ Westminster’s Hartford Partnership programs aim to deliver on that mission while making a direct impact on people and programs in Hartford.”
Patrick Owens Executive Director, Horizons at Westminster & Hartford Partnerships
“Involvement will be the key to your success at Westminster School. Get involved with the arts, try a sport you've never played, start your own club, run for student council. You will get out of this experience exactly what you put into it. Do these things early in your life — keep seeking more opportunities for growth.”
“Support for Westminster School provides a way to remember the past, shape the present and steward the future of the school.”

Westminster Defeats Northfield
The Westminster Boys Team came alive against Northfield Mount Hermon, swimming incredible races all afternoon including a fantastic finish in the final relay to win the meet, 92-87. Despite the Martlets being considerably out-numbered by the NMH boys, they were able to win 9 of the 12 events including all three relays. It was an enormous victory for Westminster - their first win over NMH in recent memory.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Andrew Shult '06, Ryan McLaughlin '08, Peter Williams '07, and Andrew Sieber '06 kicked things off in the fast lane, winning easily with some impressive splits. Later, the 200 Free Relay team of Shult, Sieber, Michael FIsher '08, and Steve Cosme '06 cranked in for the win and finished only 4 hundredths of a second shy of the school and pool record.
In what could be the most exciting event of the season thus far, and with the meet on the line, the 400 Relay team of McLaughlin, Williams, Fisher, and Cosme "protected the house" in pool record time (3:25.43), only 7 hundredths off the school record pace. The Martlets had some clutch individual performances, tallying 23 lifetime best swims out of 35 races.
The competition featured a showdown between two of the top 100 Freestylers in all of New England, won by Westminster's own Steve Cosme, who lowered his own school and pool records in that event (48.82). Fisher, Shult, and Sieber all significantly bested their 50 Freestyle times; Fisher also teamed up with Shult for a 1-2 two finish and a best time in the 100 Backstroke. Foster Baker '09 swam best times in 3 events including a 3-second drop in his 100 Back.
Williams swam an amazing 50 fly split in the Medley Relay (24.72), won the 200 IM and the 100 Fly with a best time in the latter. Chris Ribaudo '06 also had a personal-best in the fly leg of the Medley Relay, then had a best time in the 500 Freestyle. McLaughlin swam an impressive 500 also and led off the 400 Free Relay with a best time in the 100 Free.
Framroz Bankwalla '08 came up big in the 100 Breaststroke when the Martlets needed it most, shaving 3 seconds off his best time for a 4th place finish. With 3 dual meets remaining before the championship weekends, the Westminster Boys are alive and ready to take on anyone!
