Westminster Defeats Gunnery

Westminster First Girls started slowly against Gunnery. They are a spunky team who were missing two or three girls who were sick. We had our own walking wounded and really had trouble getting going. With 1:32 left in the second period, Sarah Warnke '07 opened the scoring when she picked up a loose puck at the bottom of the offensive left circle and beat the goaltender under her glove. Finally in the third period the Martlets started taking over the game. Gina Valles '06 scored on an assist from Marianne Specker '08 followed by goals by Jessi Waters '07 and Sara Reid '08. Kayla Leassard'08 had 12 saves in the shutout victory.
