Martlets Fall on the Road


On Monday, the Martlets faced Hotchkiss in Lakeville, CT, carrying momentum from their recent win over Pomfret. The defense excelled early, with Maya Jones ‘28 making several key saves to keep the game scoreless in the first few minutes. While Hotchkiss built a lead late in the first quarter, the Martlets remained resilient throughout the second half; Mariel Johnson ‘27, Eliza Reilly ‘27, June Hodson ‘28, and Hattie Lynch ‘29 played sound defense and were able to force some turnovers, while Joanna Halle ‘29 used her strong footwork and quick hands to make some highlight reel saves.The game ended with a highlight-reel goal from Kate Epke ‘27, who had a decisive drive from behind the cage and a well placed shot to find the back of the net.
