Martlets Fall to K-O

be featured in the all-star game at Nobles on Sunday, March 8.

2/27
Girls Varsity Basketball
Westminster 31  Kingswood 76

In their last home game of the year, the Martlets celebrated Senior Night and recognized their four seniors who have each had a unique impact on the team over the past several seasons. Parker Perillo ‘26 has been the leader of our defense – elevating our intensity, assuming the responsibility of guarding our opponent’s best player, and galvanizing her teammates with her energy and work ethic. Delia Lockwood ‘26 has been a physical force, battling all season long against larger post players, securing valuable rebounds and finding good scoring opportunities with her quickness. We also had a chance to acknowledge our unsung heroes – managers, Teagan Overstreet ‘26 and Audrey Khuu ‘26 – who have attended every practice and game in support of the team. In addition to keeping the clock and the book, they have also helped photograph games, create social media content, and serve as a friend and resource to all members of the team. After celebrating these seniors, the game got underway. Unfortunately, Kingswood’s shooters were on fire and found open looks from the three point line. Westminster continued to battle, frequently adjusting to new defensive looks and trying to fight for rebounds. Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 chipped in 6 points in the first  half, joined by fellow juniors, Sophie McKenna ‘27 and Melody El-Amin ‘27 who each connected on open jump shots. The Wyverns continued their shooting streak in the second half, but the Martlets answered back with three pointers from Gianna Monaco ‘27, McKenna ‘27, and Victoria Niu ‘29. Despite the loss, the Martlets rallied after the game to continue the celebration of their seniors and prepared to hit the road for their final game against Pomfret tomorrow.
