Martlets Fall to Kent

Another tightly contested afternoon unfolded in Pettee Gymnasium as the Martlets welcomed the Lions of Kent to Williams Hill. From the outset, Kent showed its intent, connecting from the perimeter, 10 three-pointers on the day, and attacking the rim in search of contact. The Lions carried that edge into halftime, holding a 26–20 advantage. Westminster, however, has made a habit of responding. The second half opened with purpose, as Brody DiBeneditto ’26 and Cole Hadden ’26 each knocked down timely three-pointers to narrow the gap. Calvin Bixby ’28, The pride of Essex, turned in a well-rounded effort with 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists, impacting the game on both ends of the floor. Liam Hibbard ’27 added eight points, including a key three-pointer that helped push the Martlets into a late lead as part of a 9-0 run. For a stretch, it appeared the home side might seize control. But Kent answered in kind, earning trips to the free-throw line and converting late opportunities to reclaim the edge. In the end, the Lions escaped with a 52–48 victory. It was a collective effort from Westminster, with contributions throughout the lineup, though the mood afterward reflected a team that felt the opportunity for a home win had been within reach. The Martlets now turn to their final road contest of the season, traveling up I-91 to face Williston on Wednesday.
