Martlets Fall to Pelicans

In their first game of a three-game week, the Martlets traveled to Loomis to take on one of the top teams in New England. With the goal of competing for 32 minutes and maintaining composure against the Pelicans press, Westminster got right to work. Led by the defensive effort of Parker Perillo ‘26 and Gianna Monaco ‘27, the black and gold were able to limit Loomis’s scoring chances, while Delia Lockwood ‘26, Charlotte Evanko ‘29, and Chloe Donovan ‘29 battled to collect defensive rebounds. Kaitlyn Buda ‘27 and Monaco ‘27 found some good scoring chances and made sure the Martlets were able to respond on the offensive end. Melody El-Amin ‘27 also provided a spark off the bench, helping to elevate the defensive effort and fight for rebounds against a tall Loomis frontcourt. A highlight of the game was Victoria Niu ‘29 scoring her first points of the season after connecting on a deep 3-pointer, hitting nothing but net. Despite the score, the Martlets achieved their goals and will look to continue competing  with high energy when they welcome Kent to campus on Wednesday.
