Martlets Fall to Gunn

On a Monday night at Jackson Rink, the Martlets squared off against Frederick Gunn in a hard-fought girls hockey matchup that ultimately ended in a 3-0 victory for Gunn. Frederick Gunn opened the scoring midway through the first period and maintained that lead into the first intermission. Westminster struggled to find its rhythm and generate sustained offensive pressure. Gunn extended its lead in the second period, off a shot from the slot that found the back of the net. Westminster continued to battle in the third, pushing to cut into the deficit, but the Gunn goaltender stood tall between the pipes, turning aside every scoring chance that came her way. With the Martlets pressing late and the net empty in favor of an extra attacker, Gunn sealed the win with an empty-net goal to secure the 3-0 final. It wasn’t Westminster’s sharpest performance of the season, and combined with a strong showing from the Frederick Gunn netminder, the Martlets were unable to break through on the scoreboard. Westminster will look to regroup and bounce back in their next game on Wednesday against Taft.

Our Grit & Grace player of the game is sophomore Sofia Eleuteri! Sofia was recognized by her teammates today for the energy, positivity, and encouragement she brings day in and day out! Very well deserved!
