Martlets Fall to Wyverns

On a brisk Friday afternoon atop Williams Hill, the Martlets welcomed the Wyverns of Kingswood Oxford, and the opening stretch proved unforgiving. Kingswood caught fire early, stringing together runs of 16–0 and 7–0 that put the Black and Gold in an immediate and imposing hole. To Westminster’s credit, the response came before halftime. The Martlets found their footing by matching Kingswood’s physicality, settling into the game and showing a willingness to compete possession by possession. That resolve carried individual performances worth noting. Calvin Bixby ’28 led the scoring effort with 14 points, including two three-pointers, a particularly impressive showing given early foul trouble that limited his margin for error. Finn Williams ’26 accepted the challenge of playing bigger than his size, contesting drives at the rim and pulling down four rebounds through contact. Brody DiBeneditto ’26 connected from deep in the second half, and Maruli Sianturi ’28 turned in his most complete outing of the season, scoring eight points while providing steady, physical defense throughout. It was a rugged, physical contest, one not without its share of questions about missed calls. Still, Westminster fought through it, battled to the final horn, and now turns its attention quickly to tomorrow’s matchup with Hotchkiss, intent on bringing the same competitive mindset back to the floor.
