Martlets Fall to Kent

The Westminster Girls JV Hockey team put forth a determined effort in their first contest over at Kent, but ultimately succumbed to a strong Kent squad, falling by a score of 8-2 in Saturday's matchup.
Despite the result, the Martlets showed flashes of excellent teamwork and individual skill. The first Westminster goal came after a beautiful setup play: Aila Van Dolah's ('28) initial shot created a loose puck that was quickly redirected by Anna Klapman ('26) to Veronica Edwards ('27), who buried it into the back of the net. Van Dolah later tallied a goal of her own, firing a powerful 20-foot shot that beat the Kent goalie to the right side.
Goaltender Lily Pokorny ('29) was solid in her first-ever game in net, keeping Westminster in the game with an impressive 20 saves against relentless Kent pressure. The entire team played well together, demonstrating strong plays at both ends of the ice and generating numerous shots on net. The Martlets look forward to building on these positive elements in their next contest!!
