Martlets Fall to Sacred Heart

The Martlets took on Sacred Heart on Hovey Field Wednesday afternoon, ultimately falling 6-0. Sacred Heart came out strong, taking a 1-0 lead after the first quarter, but Westminster held firm defensively with several key stops. In the second quarter, Sacred Heart’s quick passing and sharp finishing helped them build a 3-0 advantage by halftime. The Martlets continued to battle in the second half, with their defensive corner unit earning praise for several impressive stands under heavy pressure. Sacred Heart’s skill was on full display in the third quarter, as they extended the lead to 5-0 before adding a final goal in the closing period. Despite the result, Westminster played with heart and discipline, showcasing a resilient team effort and a never-quit attitude against a strong opponent.
Our Grit & Grace player of the game is sophomore Lily O’Callaghan! Lily’s poise and key plays helped Westminster on all areas of the field today.
