Martlets Shutout Bearcats

Despite a morning downpour, it turned into a beautiful Wednesday afternoon on the Hill, perfect conditions for the Martlets’ matchup against Hotchkiss.
Westminster controlled much of the possession throughout the first half, moving the ball with patience and purpose. Despite creating several quality chances, the game remained a 0–0 stalemate heading into halftime.
Just three minutes into the second half, the Martlets broke through with a stunning team goal. A composed 10-pass build-up from the back culminated with Izzie Leone ’27 finding Mia Fluckiger ’26, who unleashed a strike from outside the 18 to give Westminster the 1–0 lead.
The Black and Gold continued to press forward, generating multiple opportunities, but the Hotchkiss goalkeeper stood tall to keep her team within striking distance. When the final whistle blew, the Martlets earned a well-deserved 1–0 victory.
Westminster now looks ahead to another exciting matchup, hosting a strong Class B opponent, Williston, on Parents Weekend.
