Martlets Battle Pelicans

It felt more like a summer afternoon than an October matchup as the Martlets took the field on Saturday under clear skies and warm sun. Westminster generated a few quality chances throughout the first half but couldn’t quite find the finishing touch. Loomis capitalized late in the half to take a 1–0 lead into the break.
A tough four-minute stretch to start the second half saw the Pelicans add two more goals, putting the Martlets in a 3–0 hole. But true to form, Westminster dug deep and refused to fold. Callie Graby ’28 sparked the rally with a beautiful goal soon after, giving the team the energy they needed to keep pressing forward.
The Martlets controlled much of the late play, creating multiple dangerous opportunities, but the ball just wouldn’t find the back of the net. Save for that brief lapse early in the second half, the scoreline did not reflect the quality of play or the grit the Martlets displayed from start to finish.
