Martlets Shutout by Pelicans

Westminster’s 3rds Girls’ Soccer played their first scoreless half of the season in the first half of this match. Both sides were evenly matched and the Westminster 4-4-2 alignment played to perfection. There were several shots on Westminster’s goal but all were too high or too wide. The defense was good at staying with the Loomis attack. Five minutes into the second half a loose ball in front of the net allowed the first goal to Loomis and a few minutes later, another ball made its way through for the 2-0 final score. Credit should go to the entire team for a tough match, but progress was made and this is something the team can build on for the rest of the season. Elena Abud ‘28 made her debut in goal and did a remarkable job. The strong defense was boosted by excellent play from Alisa Yoshino ‘28, Susan Wang ‘29, Lily McMillen ‘27, and Catherine Hogan ‘28.
