Martlets Shutout by Suffield

The Westminster Martlets opened their season on the road against last year’s New England Champions, falling 6–0. While the scoreline tells one story, the first half told another—this group showed exactly what they’re capable of. Organized, compact, and disciplined, the Martlets frustrated their hosts and created moments of quality build-up play that could have leveled the match.
In the second half, Suffield’s class and experience showed why they remain favorites for another run at the Class B Finals. Even so, the Martlets battled to the final whistle and walked off the field with more belief in their ability to compete at a high level.
Early season mistakes were costly, but they’re also correctable. The foundation is there, and the lessons from this opener will only make the group stronger. On to the next match!
