Martlets Win on the Road

The Martlets kicked off their season with a 4–1 win on the road at NMH. From the opening whistle, Westminster looked sharp in possession, moving the ball well and controlling the tempo. Despite creating many chances, the Martlets had trouble finding the back of the net in the first half.

With 7:30 left before the half, the breakthrough came as Maya Goddard ’26 finished off an assist from Cam Perillo ’28, giving the Martlets a 1–0 lead.
After halftime, Westminster found its rhythm in the attacking third. Mia Fluckiger ’26 struck twice in an 11-minute span, both goals assisted by Natalie Czop ’27, to extend the lead to 3–1. Just minutes later, Coslyn Bardy ’28 capped the scoring with a well-placed finish off a pass from Hayley Fineberg ’26, sealing the 4–1 result.
The defensive unit of Taryn Overstreet ’26, Hannah Coccaro ’27, Olivia Martin ’27, and Izzie Leone ’27, anchored by goalkeeper Ellie Smith ’27, played the full 80 minutes and held down the fort, limiting NMH’s chances and setting the tone from the back.
It was an encouraging team performance to start the season!
