Martlets Shutout Hoggers

The illustrious thirds team took over the turf on Saturday for an impressive battle against Northfield Mount Hermon. Our captain Lily Grant ‘24 and the selfless JV players that had joined the roster immediately after their own game in the sun, led the team through a short but efficient warm-up. We quickly remembered how fast this beautiful game moves on the turf, Maya Tavares ‘24 had only been suited up as a goalie for under 10 minutes before she was making her first (of many) saves. Maya showed a natural prowess for goalie throughout the game, with quite a number of skillful saves. NFMH got two lucky goals in the first half, but in the second half our Martlets came out hungry for a goal.

Bella Ursano ‘23, Charlotte Trafelet ‘24, and Adrienne Hall ‘25 ferociously attacked the offense and with the help of our talented middies Annabelle Gitterman ‘24, Dalya Amouyal ‘25, Sarah Eddy ‘25, Lily Grant ‘24, Reese Hutchen ‘23, and others, they were able to get significantly more shots off goal than NFMH could ever have dreamed of getting around our intimidating defense. Adrienne took at least 5 of the shots off net, getting within inches of a goal!

Overall, the girls played a tough game and showed more field hockey skill than ever before! We couldn’t be more proud of our talented athletes.
