Westminster Outscores Kent for Road Win

There were 30 goals scored during the April 19 lacrosse contest between Westminster and Kent, and the Martlets came out on top of this offensive-minded game in Kent, Conn. The Martlets had a slow start and Kent stayed close, forcing Westminster to keep its passes crisp, draw controls decisive and shots well-placed. The first half was a frustrating one for the Martlets as they struggled to piece everything together end to end and Kent kept it a game, trailing only by two goals at the half. The second half, however, brought out the true Westminster lacrosse team. Captain Blake Cote ‘19, Sam DeLeo ‘21 and Shannon Keefe ‘19 were essential on the draws at midfield that ultimately led to solid transitions down the field to find the back of the net. With several different goal scorers and over half of the goals assisted, Westminster proved to be dynamic in the offense when it moved the ball quickly to create opportunities. Goalie Ellie Bailey ‘21 turned in a solid game and preventing any second half surges from the home team. Westminster hosts three teams next week for a solid stretch of games on Hovey Field.
