Martlets Take On Talented Avon

The variety of afternoon weather, sunshine, rain, clouds, and blue sky, was an apt metaphor for Second Boys' Lacrosse's 6 - 13 loss to Avon Old Farms. The Martlets trailed the Winged Beavers throughout the game but managed to have a couple of two goal runs to excite the bench. Avon won all the statistics, except saves (groundballs 38 - 27; shots 30 - 19; saves 11 - 12). Christian Coquoz '12 was back in the nets and played well versus the onslaught of shots. Lorin Tobey '15 led Westminster with four points (1 G 3 A), followed by Ryan Seymour '14 (2 G 1 A), and other one point performances from Gavin Durham '13 (1 G ), Sam Pope '12 (1 G), Eli Zempsky '15 (1 G), Alex Connal '15 (1 A), and Austen Tibbetts '15 (1 A). Special recognition goes to Brennan Cross '15 (his best defensive outing of the season), Seymour, Tobey, Ryan Mowery '13 (taking the body), Drew Poling '13 (Faceoffs), Coquoz, and Preston Miller '13.  Credit goes to the Winged Beavers who were clearly the best and most talented team Westminster Second Boys' Laxers have played this year. The Martlets played with Grit and Grace throughout the 40 minutes and handled the adversity well.
