Martlets Sweep Suffield

The First Boys' Tennis team defeated Suffield Academy 7-0.  The boys swept the doubles point when Cam Kurtz '12 and Andrew Fu '11 defeated their opponents 8-2 at #2 doubles.  Tim Welles '11 and Robbie Hamblett '11 won 8-1 at #2 and Sandro Giacometti '12 and Chris Conzelmann '13 were victorious by a 7-5 margin.  The boys also swept the singles matches with Fu winning 6-2, 6-4 at #6, Kurtz prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at #5,  while Hamblett came out on top 6-0, 6-0 at #4 as well.  Welles had a tighter match at #3 when he won 6-2, 7-6.  Giacometti won 6-1, 6-1 at #2 and Conzelmann was ahead 6-4, 1-0 before his opponent retired.  The team win guaranteed the boys will finish with a winning record with the current record at 8-5 with one match remaining.  The boys close out their season on Wednesday at Berkshire.
