Martlets Grab First Win

Westminster traveled to Pomfret for their eighth game and brought home their first victory. The Martlets got off to a 9 to 2 lead. Both teams exchanged baskets for the next few minutes. Wilson hit a big basket to go into the half down by 5, 20 - 25. Westminster came out of the break on a mission, with a 9 - 0 run. The Martlets played strong defense holding the Griffins to only 20 points in the second half. Oliver Brown '10 got a key steal and was fouled with 26 seconds left on the clock and made two free throws to push the lead to 48 to 45. Greg Miller '10 iced the win with two more free throws to end the game 50 - 45. Leading scorers were Matt Wilson '11  with 20 points and  6 rebounds, Miller with 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Rafi Rojas '10 with 8 points and  7 assists.
