Martlets Topple Bears
The Martlets faced a very good Berkshire team in an up and down game in which the Westminster offense led by Sara Reid ‘08 took advantage of their opportunities and Bethany Dymarczyk ‘08 and Kayla Lessard ‘08 snuffed out the Berkshire opportunities. In the first period the Black and Gold came out flying and scored on the second shift, as Reid grabbed a pass from Nicole Palazzo '08 who was forechecking hard and fired a backhand into the top corner. Five minutes later, on a similar play, Nicole Fox '10 stole the puck from a Berkshire defenseman and fed a great pass to
Reid, and she again beat the Berkshire netminder with a backhand. In the second, the play continued to go up and down the ice. Berkshire had some great opportunities but Lessard was up to the task. At the 9 minute mark, Emily Walsh ‘09 took a pass from Dymarczyk and found the back of the net. This power play goal made it 3-0. In the third, Berkshire came out fast and furious. They scored on the second shift and the game was on. For the next five minutes, Lessard fought off the onslaught from the Berkshire forwards. Then both teams started taking penalties. In the end, Westminster held on to get a 3-1 victory. Next up, they play Andover on Wednesday.
