Martlets Make It Nine In A Row

In the second game in two days and after the emotional win against Loomis on Friday, a letdown was expected. In the first period, however, Westminster started quite well. They had the jump that they ended the night before with and scored two goals. Nicole Palazzo ‘08 scored on the rebound of a Tori Pizzuto ‘10 shot. Then three minutes later, Casey Breese ‘11 pounded home another loose puck on a Emily Walsh ‘09 shot. In the second the Martlets' heavy legs began to slow them down and Greenwich picked up the pace. On a turnover at the blueline, Greenwich cut the lead in half. Over the next five minutes, Kayla Lessard ‘08 made a number solid saves to maintain the one goal lead. In the third Westminster had more energy and hit another post. Amanda Boulier ‘11 scored her first goal of the year on a seeing eye wrist shot from the point to give the insurance the team needed. In the end Greenwich played hard as usual and the Black and Gold gutted out a 3-1 victory. Taft is up next on Wednesday.
