Second Close Loss for First Girls' Hockey

In a game against the defending New England Champions, Westminster came out very fast and had numerous opportunities but could not score on the Choate netminder. Emily Walsh ‘09 and Casey Breese ‘11 had some great chances. Then at the very end of the period Choate found the net on a defensive break down. In the second, Nicole Fox ‘10 grabed the puck off an errant breakout pass and beat the Choate goalie to tie the score. Then a few minutes later Choate again broke the tie on the powerplay. The Martlets did not wait long, as this time Fox stole the puck off a Choate defender and roofed a shot over the goalie’s shoulder to tie the score once again. In the third, both teams had opportunities. Nicole Palazzo '08 created a breakaway in a short-handed situation but the Choate goalie made a fine save. With 4 minutes to play, Choate got the go-ahead goal. Westminster continued to put pressure on the Choate team but could not score the equalizer. Other Martlets that played well were the defense pairing of Bethany Dymarczyk ‘08 and Marianne Specker ‘08. Next up the very tough Nobles on Friday afternoon in Needham.
